Zubiri is a small town in the Esteribar Valley, also known as the Valley of the Hunters (Valle de los Cazadores). This town owes its name to the medieval bridge that crosses the course of the Río Arga, known as the Rabies Bridge (Puente de la Rabia) due to a legend that says that in order to cure animals of diseases, they had to cross the bridge to be cured of their disease (even rabies).
