The town of Triacastela is the first town on the French Camino located in Galicia. This small town concentrates mainly on providing services to visiting pilgrims and includes a large number of hostels and restaurants, to the point where there are more pilgrims than residents. Triacastela preserves some of the ruins of what were once buildings directly related to pilgrimage, like an old hospital, prison, inn...
This town has been a resting place since the beginning of the pilgrimage. After the demanding passage of O Cebreiro.
At its exit, you have to decide where to continue the route; there are two ways, one via San Xil and the other via Samos, at the end of which the two roads merge into one main road.
