The town of Ponferrada is one of the main locations along the Camino de Santiago in the part after León. The historic district of this town sits beneath an impressive castle built by the Templers (Castillo del Temple). The town, named after the iron bridge built there. It is divided into the historic area where the castle is located and various churches, as well as bars and restaurants that abound in the new area of the town.
