The town of Estella was closely associated with the Camino de Santiago and was known as Lizarra, today, a name still retained by some of its old neighbors. Over the years it became an important town due to the fact that at the beginning of the 11th century, by order of the king, the layout of the Camino was changed which encouraged the opening of facilities in the area. The city has a wall that was built to give shelter and security to all the pilgrims who came and spent the night in the city.
Another famous attraction is the wine tap that you can drink from on the way
