The city of Astorga offers a rich heritage from the Middle Ages, mainly in the ancient city center, surrounded by a wall where there are cathedrals, churches, monasteries and ancient hospitals for pilgrims, which give a glimpse of the pilgrims' journeys in the past. Also unusual in the urban landscape is a masterpiece by the architect Antonio Gaudi: the Episcopal Palace (Palacio Episcopal).
